Bye Bye Barcelona
Okay, I did promise myself that the next two years would be dedicated to Barcelona and working on my projects, but after my man left back to Brazil it really just is not the same here without him.
The apartment lease expires in three weeks, so I have to move anyway and while Barcelona is an incredibly amazing city with a beautiful vibrant art and music scene, it just does not feel right being here anymore.
But it is not just that. Being independent again blows possibilities wide open for spontaneous, random adventure and I feel like I should capitalize on the opportunities my freedom brings by doing something… well, doing something random and spontaneous, like moving to a new city : Madrid. It is still in Spain and not a major move – just an 8 hour drive down the road. No border checks, customs interrogations or flights to catch, seeing it as an slight amendment to my two year plan. There is nothing like the excitement a change in scenery brings to get the imagination and creativity flowing.
And besides, Summer is nearly over, the beaches are emptier and the sky has been overcast and threatening rain this entire week and the next city over, Madrid, seems to be calling my name. Surely a sign?
Have met some really great people and we will stay in contact for sure, and who knows, hopefully next year I can meander my way back to his Gothic themed Mediterranean city for another Summer of fun in the sun…
If anyone has any great contacts for me in Madrid, then please let me know. Nothing like a friend of a friend of a friend of someone you meet over the internet to introduce you to the pleasures of a new city.
