You may have kept a diary at some stage of your life, only to be disappointed that your journal entries reflected the drudgery of your ground hog style existence : dry and monotonous, so dismissed the merits of continuing to record your boring life, which was understandable.
But my dear friends, things are different now. You are embarking on your own “Quest for the Ultimate Lifestyle”. Life is about to become very, very interesting and exciting and NOW is the time to blow the cobwebs and dust of your old diary, grab a pen and start keeping a written record of your progress and adventures as your follow your heart and begin to create and live your best life.
And men, if you think diaries are just for girls, get over it! Keeping a record of your life events is powerful and you will find that your diary will become your closest confident on your journey.
Be disciplined and write in your diary every day. The practice will help you to process your thoughts and identify recurring patterns in your life that you need to focus on to improve; and during those darker moments when you question your life, dreams and goals, you can travel back in time as you take a peep at your diary from months and years gone by and be reminded of what it is exactly you are doing, why you are doing it, it will also make you appreciate how much progress you have really made – too much to stop!
Make your very last task for each day, just before you lay your head down to rest for a good nights sleep, to write a very brief synopsis of your day. A summary of any tasks / progress / achievements, conversations of interest, new ideas, frustrations, complaints and any dominating thoughts that were with you that day. You are not writing for anyone but yourself, so do not worry about grammar, sentence structure, spelling or even writing coherent, flowing sentences. Simply write whatever comes into your mind and write quickly, taking no more than a few minutes.
If you do falter and miss a few days, your next diary entry needs to briefly cover all the days you missed, so in effect you are keeping a written record for every single day of your life.
Keeping a diary is so easy to do and the experience is very rewarding. Definitely recommended!
