Make This moment the Very Best Moment it Can Be


A very old, sweet lady imparted this jewel of wisdom to me. She said, “make every moment the very best moment it can be”.

Her words of wisdom stuck and as a result I became more aware about my daily activities and my general level of happiness increased. Every moment is enjoyed and appreciated just that little bit more when we bring an element of care and affection into our days, proactively making chores and tasks more comfortable / luxurious / exciting / delightful etc.

By simply asking yourself “How can I make this moment the very best moment it can be”? you immediately bring awareness into this moment and begin to consciously make the experience more enjoyable. You will see that it takes minimal effort to turn those otherwise ordinary routines into special moments and ultimately it is the accumulation of all these pleasurable moments during our lifetime which have the biggest impact on our overall state of mind.

Simple things like having a glass of wine to accompany that book you are reading, lighting some candles, burning incense, treating yourself to a sweet indulgence after dinner, turning the stereo up and dancing around the house in your underwear to your favorite music as you go about doing your housework, a foot massage in the bath, even clearing the mess off your desk before you sit down to study, taking a few minutes to make yourself comfortable before you begin a task…

Just do something to add a special touch to the moment. J.F.D.I!

Let it be a mantra : How Can I Make This Moment the Very Best Moment It Can Be? Let it become a way of life for you and then let it overflow to your friends and family. How can you make this moment with them, the very best moment it can be? Reach out and give your parents a big hug, tell them how much you love them (even if they drive you crazy!), water the neglected, wiltering plants on your friends terrace, make everyone a hot chocolate drink – do something to acknowledge this moment.

Use this mantra as cynical humor. When you find yourself in an undesirable situation i.e. you locked yourself out of the house at 4 am in the morning, ask yourself as a joke “now how can I make this the very best moment it can be”? Have fun with it.

Overtime you will find that this approach to life will come naturally and while subtle, can help to transition your mental state of mind into one of being more positive, optimistic and conscious, ultimately helping you to enjoy life and be just that little bit more happier.
