Words of Encouragement and Famous Failures!
So many people are debilitated by the thought of failing, so here are some words of encouragement.
Usually, what people are really worried about is how others will perceive them if they do not achieve their intended goals that they never even try, and instead continue to live a comfortable life, but one they are not happy with.
Remember, from an outsiders perspective, if you fail and give up, people will see you fail and give up, but if you fail, shrug it off and carry on fighting, then people will see you fail, shrug it off and carry on fighting. The point is that people will respond to whatever you do. If you think you failed and act accordingly, then they will to. If you act like it was no big deal, then they will to. So do not be concerned what others think of you and your failures and successes, just focus on your own life and projects and never give up because we know that failure is non-existent!
Below are a collection of famous failures. You can bet that these guys did not let their concern for what other people thought of their failures and successes effect them.
The Beatles
The Beatles were rejected by several recording companies before they got their lucky break. The record companies told them “guitar groups are on the way out” and “the Beatles have no future in show business” and went on to sign another group who were auditioned on the same day, were local and would therefore require less traveling costs. The Beatles went on to become the most commercially successful rock and roll band in the history of pop culture and were at the heart of the 1970’s social movement. Collectively the surviving Beatles members are worth an estimated GBP1,000,000,000. That’s one billion pounds.
Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin, the father of evolutionary biology who proposed the theory of natural selection was recognized for his massive contributions to science by being one of only five 19th century UK NON-royals to be honored with a state funeral. He was buried in Westminster Abbey, close to Issac Newton. Yet, despite his great successes, Charles Darwin’s father told him “You care for nothing but shooting dogs and rat-catching….. and you will be a disgrace to yourself and all your family”. We are sure the rest of the world disagrees.
Beethoven
A teacher of a young Beethoven once told him that as a composer, he was “useless”. Beethoven went down in the history books as a musical genius and legend, with the echos of his work continuing to be used and taught today.
Walt Disney
A young Walt Disney was hired to work at the Kansas City Star newspaper, then later fired for “lack of imagination and had no original ideas”. Walt Disney went onto found Walt Disney World which brought ABC whom owned The Kansas City Star. Ironic.
Albert Einstein
Our most famous scientist. However poor Albert Einstein had a slow start in life – he was not able to speak until he was almost four years old, and when he finally did, his teachers said he would “never amount to much”.
Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe is Hollywood’s original blond sex icon, but not everyone thought she had the goods. A producer once told her that she was “unattractive” and could not act and the Blue Book Modeling Agency also told her “You’d better learn secretarial work or else get married”. Ouch!
Elvis Presley
Elvis Presley was fired after one performance and told “You ain’t goin’ nowhere, son. You ‘ought to go back to drivin’ a truck”. We all know what happened to Elvis!
So, just a few words of encouragement to keep you on track and focused on your goals. Remember only through difficult experiences can we become stronger. All success stories are stories of great failures, the only difference is that every time the successful ones fail, they get back up and keep going.
And here’s a really great video for you.
